Shang-Hua Yang and Abhinav Vinod teamed up for the Qualcomm Innovation Fellowship (QInF) in 2015. Because of their great vision and technical competencies on ultra-high speed wireless communication system, their team (Research proposal: An Ultra-High Speed Wireless Communication System based on Turing Pattern Frequency Combs) was selected to be one of the finalist teams.

Shang-Hua Yang has a proven track record for innovative ideas with 50+ peer-reviewed publications in nanoscale optoelectronics, microwave photonics, ultrafast electro-optics and high-speed telecommunication systems. His interdisciplinary expertise helps the proposed high-speed communication system with high data transmission rate, excellent signal stability and low bit error rate by providing a deep understanding of different building blocks of the communication system. Shang-Hua is an experienced member of Terahertz Electronics Laboratory (UCLA), California NanoSystems Institute (UCLA), and Nanoelectronics Research Facilities (UCLA). Hence, the team has a unique expertise to customize various system components and verify their performance in the proposed wireless communication system.

Abhinav Kumar is a student at the Mesoscopic optics and Quantum electronics Laboratory (UCLA), his expertise in microresonator frequency comb technology will help the team achieve ultra-stable terahertz carrier generation with high conversion efficiency and also coherent demodulation at the receiver using the Turing Pattern frequency comb.
