Y.-W. Peter Hong received his B.S. degree in Electrical
Engineering from National Taiwan University,
Taipei, Taiwan, in 1999, and his Ph.D. in
Electrical Engineering from Cornell
University, Ithaca, NY, in 2005. In the fall of 2005, he joined the Institute of Communications
Engineering/Department of Electrical Engineering in National Tsing Hua University, Hsinchu,
Taiwan, where he is now an Associate Professor. He was also a visiting
scholar at the University of Southern California during June-August of 2008.
His research is focused on cooperative communications, MAC-PHY cross-layered designs,
communications, and signal processing for sensor networks, eg. distributed detection,
estimation, and statistical learning.
Dr. Hong received the best paper award for young authors (年輕學者論文獎) from the IEEE ITSOC Taipei Chapter & COMSOC Taipei/Tainan
Chapter in 2005. He also received the Fred Ellersick Award for the best
unclassified paper in MILCOM 2005, which is entitled Dense sensor networks are also energy efficient: when
'more' is 'less'. In 2009, he
received the Junior Faculty Research Award from the College of EECS (電資院新進人員研究獎).
Dr. Hong is the guest editor of EURASIP
Special Issue on Cooperative MIMO Multicell Networks and IJSNET Special Issue on Advances in
Theory and Applications of Wireless, Ad Hoc, and Sensor Networks. Dr.
Hong is currently serving as the TPC Track Co-Chair of VTC2010-Spring for the track
on “Cognitive Radio and Cooperative Communications” and is also the
Publication Co-Chair of the conference. He is also the Publicity Chair of ISITA/ISSSTA 2010. Dr. Hong was the
TPC Co-Chair of WASN 2009 and also served as TPC members for ICC 2009, 2010;
