Hsiao-Chuan Wang received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from National Taiwan University, Taipei, in 1969, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas, in 1973 and 1977, respectively. He joined the Department of Electrical Engineering at National Tsing Hua University, Hsinchu, Taiwan, in 1977, and was the Chair of Department during 1986 – 1992. He was the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Chinese Institute of Electrical Engineering (now the International Journal of Electrical Engineering) in 1993 – 1995. He has served as Chair of the IEEE Taipei Section in 1997 – 1999 and Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Speech and Audio Processing in 1999 – 2002. He was the President of the Association of Computational Linguistics and Chinese Language Processing during 1999–2001. He is now Professor Emeritus. His research interests include speech signal processing and digital signal processing.
